Our very own Adianca has been selected to represent Western Australia in the upcoming National Cross Country Championships in Tasmania. This outstanding achievement follows her recent arrival from South Africa, marking an incredible journey from international arrival to a national athlete within just a few months.
Adianca has been training rigorously in preparation for nationals, with early morning runs to help her get used to the cold Tasmanian weather and daily training routines that test both her physical and mental strength. Her training regimen includes travelling to the city three times a week to work with a private coach and training independently on the other days, running approximately 9 kilometers each day; her consistent dedication towards her sport is evident. She shares that her pre-race routine includes rising early for a nutritious breakfast of Pronutro, a nod to her South African roots, followed by a power-boosting glass of beetroot juice.
Adianca credits her mental preparedness for races to her faith, walking (and running) closely with God, being grateful for the talent He has bestowed upon her and seeking His protection through prayer before each event. She adds that centring her thoughts on Him helps her stay calm and focused.
Behind her success is a foundation of support from her family, especially her little brother Darius, who has been her biggest cheerleader, creating posters and providing encouragement for her races.
Adianca leaves aspiring athletes with an inspiring message: “If you can dream it, you can do it. As long as you are willing to put in the effort and work hard, you will get the results.” Her swift adjustment and success after moving to Australia serve as a reminder of the importance of community and hard work. With support from friends, family, and the school community, Adianca has not only adapted to a new country but has also shone brightly in her athletic pursuits.
As Adianca prepares to fly out with her mother to Tasmania, the school community stands behind her. We wish Adianca all the best as she takes on the challenge of the race in Tasmania, confident that she will continue to inspire and achieve great things.
Go, Adianca! The Northshore community is rooting for you!
