This term, our Kindy classes had a delightful start with a special visit from Educated by Nature, bringing the “Muddy Gully” incursion to our school. This hands-on experience invited our young learners to embrace the outdoors in a way that combined learning with a whole lot of fun and a bit (well, a lot) of mess.
The “Muddy Gully” program encourages children to explore and interact with the natural world around them. The activities encouraged them to get muddy and let their creativity flourish in an outdoor setting. It’s a beautiful reminder of the simple joys of childhood – playing, creating, getting dirty and learning in an engaging environment.
A key part of this experience was introducing sensory risk-taking, such as handling sticky clay and feeling it squish between their fingers and toes. We believe in the value of learning through play, and these kinds of activities make learning memorable and enjoyable for our young learners.
