This year, Northshore had the unique opportunity to host a group of students from Jakarta, Indonesia. It was a new experience for everyone involved, giving our students a chance to learn about schooling and life in Indonesia while our guests got a taste of the Australian educational system.
The visitors, comprised of 5 Year 8 students and 14 Year 9 students, were paired with our students, allowing for close interaction and cultural exchange. Everyone involved was excited about the visit, making the atmosphere around the school notably vibrant during their stay.
Despite the visit lasting just three days, it was filled with memorable moments. Perhaps the most notable was on the final day when the Indonesian students, accompanied by their teacher, performed a traditional dance for our secondary students. This gesture offered a beautiful insight into their culture and was a highlight for many. We believe these interactions are not only enriching on a personal level but also serve as an important reminder of the value of cultural understanding and global friendships.
We extend our thanks to everyone who helped make this visit a success and to the Indonesian students and their teacher for sharing a part of their culture with us.
