A Recap of Week 9's Faction Sports Carnival
Week 9 was all about the Faction Athletics Carnival. On Monday, 9 September, selected students from Years 3-6 competed in the Field Event Finals of Shot Put, Discus and Turbo Jav. Students recorded strong measurements that gave them place ribbons and points towards the champion boy/girl, along with faction participation points. We were thankful for the help of our Senior School Faction Captains Lexi, Marcus, Ashton and Logan, who were great role models for our Primary students.
The Primary Carnival was held at Splendid Park on Wednesday, 11 September. Faction Captains decorated tents early and then opened the Carnival once all students had arrived. Students competed in various distances on the track as well as relays. The Long Jump finals for Years 3-6 were held along with Junior and Senior Team Games. Tug-O-War was by far the most popular game.
For the first time, Factions were competing for the Spirit Cup. This was awarded to Kambarang for their cheering, tent décor, hat wearing and good sportsmanship. The overall winner of the Athletic Shield was Makuru.
Congratulations to our Year Group Champions!
From the results, students will be selected to represent NCGS at the NIPSSA Athletics Carnival on the 25 October.
Thank you so much to the Parents and Spectators who attended on the day to support their children and Team.
